Migraine Treatment Cambridge

Migraine is a severe and unpleasant type of headache that usually affects one side of the head. It can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting and the need for complete rest in a dark room. It is important to identify any triggers that are associated with attacks, such as coffee, chocolate, red wine or cheese but emotional triggers such as stress, frustration, anger etc. should also be considered.

Migraines can often be associated with a need to withdraw into oneself to avoid confrontation and find time to be alone. Physically, it is associated with a lack of oxygen to the brain, which in turn is associated with a right to life and personality traits of the migraine sufferer include:

  • Great expectation and anticipation creating inner stress.
  • Strongly repressed sexual feelings, especially the fear of being overwhelmed.
  • Deep disappointment and the fear of being let down.
  • A need to be loved and cared for – a painful cry for attention.
  • Feeling the need to control others and for life to be perfect.

Therapeutically it is advisable to check for food sensitivities and Cranial Osteopathy or Chiropractic techniques can help to check the alignment of the skull joints. If these prove to be normal then it is probably a good idea to explore the psychological influences through either Counselling, Psychotherapy and/or Hypnotherapy.
